Flange Lubrication

Flange lubrication or rail flank lubrication is used in rail vehicles to reduce wear on flanges and rails and to reduce noise. It also minimizes the chance of climbing, which can lead to derailments. Particularly in tight bends, high frictional forces arise between the wheel flange and the rail flank, leading to wear.
